Run Forest Run
I have had this goal to run to "Turtle Bay"' for quite some time. . . Like over two years. It is 13 miles there and back, so a half marathon. I have always liked to run but hadn't gone that far since high school. And for some reason, I have always had an excuse and postponed this particular run until I was ready.
((Until I was more fit. . . had more sleep. . . had a better dinner. . . better weather. . . more time to do it. . . etc.))
Well... I did it! I know it isn't that huge. . . people three-times my age run marathons.. and my brother in-law and wife run ultras (that is a new level of insane). But it was an accomplishment for me. . .
I wasn't planning on running that far that day. I was going my usual route and at the turning point. . . I was feeling good and just kept going and going. I got so far, I decided I might as well go to turtle bay. Then I did.
It wasn't easy, especially running back with the sun. I sweated salt crystals. . . but I just pushed through and accomplished my goal. I was waiting to be ready, but I was all along.
It made me think though, you will miss out on a lot of stuff in life if you wait until you are ready. When in life are you ever really ready? You can prepare obviously, but in reality there is really no such thing as ready. There is really only now, and now is as good a time as any right?

Easters
It was a great Easter weekend!
We spent way to much money on raw fish and happened across the coolest ocean access while working. It is such a cool place with the clearest water. It was pretty magical. Speaking of magic... we are listening to the Harry Potter books on audible now. I love them so much.
We also babysat our friend's bunny this weekend while they went to Maui!
The bunny's name is "Ipo" and has the prettiest bunny eyes I have ever seen.
For Easter dinner we got together with Riley's siblings and then played games.
I love living by them! I remember being "iffy" about them living so close being newlyweds, but honestly I wish we did more with them. They have turned into my closest friends in Hawaii and going to truly miss living by them.
Also, it was the Women's General Conference Broadcast!
There was lots of great messages about service that made me want to be better and also got me pumped for this upcoming general conference weekend!

Spring Break Vacation!
My family visited Hawaii for spring break! Its been such a great week and I already miss them so much. I didn't get to see them for Christmas, so it was so nice being together and seeing my nephews.
The highlights of the week include: snorkeling, shell collecting, lots of beach time, hiking, turtle bay, kaneohe adventuring, and eating out lots!!

Stake Conference
This weekend for church we had stake conference.
It was pretty inspiring with lots of good messages.
A professor at BYUH, PJ Rodgers, spoke during the priesthood session and shared the concept of the "two pains" we will unavoidably face in this life: pain of discipline & regret. Riley came home and shared it with me and we've talked about it multiple times.
We talked about life and goals.
We talked about sacrifice and self mastery... About doing the daily little things that are hard but add up and ultimately make us happier and healthier people.
To suffer the pain of discipline rather than regret.
Another guy during stake conference mentioned how some people believe the grass is greener on the other side--- but how it's ACTUALLY greener where we choose to water the grass.
Watering takes time and effort but I want strawberry fields forever.
