Austria- Vienna

July 29- Aug 2nd:
We took a long weekend to Austria! That sounds so strange to write. The accessibility to other countries here is still so unreal to me. It was 1 hour 20 minute flight at 7am. Which had us all waking up before 5am, the kids woke up so unusually happy and really set the tone for a great day in Vienna.

We spent 2 full days in the city, which isn't near enough to see everything. One of the highlights of our time here was the walking tour (this is becoming a standard to the places we go see) learning more about the history of Vienna. It is the 'city of music,'  a place Mozart and Beethoven called home and lots of other famous people. We stood beneath building under a balcony Hitler spoke to his followers and saw the apartment from outside where Beethoven lived for a time. It was a fun city to walk around and explore. I was able to see the catacombs under St. Stephens Cathedral and Riley went inside the State Hall of Austrian National Library. We tried the sausages, wiener schnitzel, pretzels, apple strudel, and some other traditional dishes of Austria.
That may or may not be my kid's finger prints all over the window....
Clay so happy about being in the hiking bag

the ceiling though was amazing

ladder to heaven...

dang vandalism. why people?..
I loved the stop lights on Austria, lots of diversity themed traffic lights with strait and same-sex couples holding hands, highlighting the diversity of the population and also built for initiative to increase traffic safety and have people pay attention more

Five Guys potatoes from Netherlands :)
