One of the main things we wanted to do in Lofoten was the Reinebringen hike. It's one of the more famous (and popular) hikes in Lofoten that takes you from town center all the way to the top of the mountain by way of 1,978 steps up. We went back and fourth on if we should take the kids, reading and re-reading reviews and blogs only to find that most said it wasnt kid friendly. We decided to give it a go by waking up early and just letting the boys take their time, knowing that if it came to it, one of us could turn around with them and wait in the car and then take turns.
Turns out the boys did amazing, climbed all 1,978 steps up in fairly good spirits with a good amount of trail snacks and promises of post-hike ice cream. The not so good of the day, was when we reached the summit, everything was so socked in with clouds that we could hardly see much at all. It was pretty disappointing, knowing what the views should have been. We waited for as long as we could to see if we could catch a break but when it was only getting worse we headed down the mountain, bummed about the lack of visibility but thrilled about our champion hiker boys.
